At Wilson Primary School, we are proud to offer Indonesian as our specialist language, in alignment with the Western Australian Curriculum. Learning a second language provides students with valuable communication skills and fosters an appreciation of cultural diversity, preparing them to be active and informed global citizens.
Our Indonesian program focuses on developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through engaging activities that make language learning meaningful and fun. Students explore Indonesian culture alongside language, building intercultural understanding and respect.
To enrich the learning experience, we host incursions that deliver authentic cultural experiences, such as traditional dance, music, and art workshops. These incursions bring the language to life, allowing students to connect classroom learning with real-world cultural practices. By engaging all senses, through movement, sound, and visual arts, students deepen their understanding, strengthen retention, and develop a genuine appreciation for Indonesian culture.
Our Languages program supports the General Capabilities outlined in the Western Australian curriculum, including:
Through these experiences, students grow as globally aware individuals who value diversity and are equipped with skills for lifelong learning.
